Four Ways to Celebrate the Girl in the Mirror Every Day

You are so very beautiful. Whether you are tall or short, have a small or large frame, are any color of the rainbow, have big frizzy hair, or no hair at all. You’re beautiful; what matters is that you know it. There is nothing more attractive than confidence.

If you are like many women in our culture who struggle with self-image, here are a few ways to celebrate the woman you are, and learn to love your own skin:

  1. Treat yo self! Life is too short to never let yourself enjoy it. Work hard at whatever you, but don’t feel guilty about pampering yourself from time to time. Treat yourself to coffee. If you’re on a diet, schedule yourself a cheat day once a week. Let yourself go online jewelry shopping if it brightens your day. Make sure to budget some “you” money that you can spend on anything you want, guilt-free.
  2. You do you, girlfriend! Whether you’re a t-shirt and jean shorts kind of girl or if mini club dresses are your thing, rock it! While the fashion industry may pretend that trends last 15 seconds before going out of style, the reality is there is no wrong way to express yourself through your clothing. If boho fashion makes you feel great, then 70s hippie clothes are what’s in! If you’re a no-fuss kind of girl, get yourself some jean shorts that make you feel hot and you rock those jean shorts! The important thing is that you feel great about yourself. Wear what makes you feel beautiful, and you become a true fashionista.
  3. Take care of the girl in the mirror! You should eat a diet full of healthy food (and some chocolate!), not because you need to lose weight, but because eating a balanced diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, protein, and the right amount carbs gives you energy and makes you feel great. When you feel great, you look great.

The same goes for exercise. Don’t make yourself miserable by breaking your back at the gym so that you’ll look like the image of a heavily Photoshopped supermodel that she doesn’t even look like herself in reality. But it’s great if you find a way to get some exercise that you love doing. When you get your muscles working, your brain produces endorphins that make you feel happy. And the happier you are, the more beautiful.

  4. Give kindness freely! Every other person on this planet has struggles of their own and need to be loved. When you love other people, you not only make their lives better, your inner beauty becomes what they see, and you also feel great about yourself. You don’t have to drain yourself to show love to others. Smile often, at people you don’t know. Liberally offer sincere compliments and words of kindness. Celebrate everyone, even those who have nothing to offer in return. There is no amount of kindness that you can put into the universe that would be too much.
