The 3 Most Effective Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions Without Heat

Hair extensions

If you’re one of the thousands of women across the country currently using hair extension services to add a few inches of length to their gorgeous locks, you’ve likely heard it again and again. Pretty much any stylist will tell it to you: always avoid using heat-styling tools on your weave or extensions. These tools are terrible for your hair extensions, and will damage them even more than they damage your natural hair.

For curling iron enthusiasts, this can come as an unpleasant surprise. But what if there were a way to make your hair curl without the use of heated tools? What if you could style your hair without damaging it?

Luckily, there’s a way to do so. Styling your hair without the use of heated styling tools might sound too good to be true, but it’s not. Take a look at three easy, painless ways to curl your weave or extensions without damaging them:

The heat-free headband wave

This styling technique can literally be done in your sleep. All you’ll need is a soft fabric headband — wrap your hair around the headband in small sections before you go to bed. Leave it in overnight, and let your hair down in the morning. You’ll wake up with gorgeous, healthy curls that look just like they were styled with a curling iron!

Get beach-ready, heatless waves

You can still give your hair a bit of a wave even if you don’t have naturally curly hair. To do so, simply take a few hair pins, a spray bottle filled with water, some hair wax and your favorite bottle of hairspray. Dampen a small section of your hair at a time, curling the strands of your weave or extensions around your fingers and pinning them in place with the hair pins. Finish with the hairspray and hair wax, and take out the hair pins — instant waves!

Rock the paper towel wave

Believe it or not, but paper towels can be just as effective at curling your hair as the curling iron. All you’ll need is hairspray, a water-filled spray bottle and paper towels — just be sure to use a strong, durable paper towel brand. Tear off a piece of paper towel, folding it horizontally until you have a long strip. Wrap this strip around your dampened hair, braiding it into your hair. Repeat until all your hair is braided with the paper towels, spray with hairspray and wait. You’ll soon have waves that look like they came straight from the stylist.
